Day trip to Lake Manyara National Park

Lake Manyara National Park is one of the oldest and most popular bird sanctuaries in East Africa. The park has a large variety of habitats, making it possible to support a wealth of wildlife in its small area. The most famous spectacle in the park is the tree-climbing lions, which are occasionally seen along branches of acacia trees. Other animals found in the park include buffalo, elephants, leopards, baboons, impala, giraffes, zebra, wildebeest, ostrich and hippos. Lake Manyara National Park contains over 400 bird species. Common water birds to be seen here are pelicans, spoonbills, Egyptian geese, hammerkops and the migratory flamingoes, which arrive in hundreds of thousands creating one of Africa’s great natural sights over the soda lake.


Leave the lodge bright and early at 7:30am. If you are staying at the lodge make sure you eat a good breakfast and collect a lunchbox for the trip ahead. The drive to the gates of Manyara is about 30 mins and you will arrive at the gate at approximatly 8am. Registration at the park should only take 20 minutes. After registration drive to the hot springs and enjoy the wildlife along the way.

After enjoying a morning in the park, seeing the hot springs and a lion or two, stop for lunch at the view point at 13:00pm. After a short break of an hour your will return to your safari drive.

Leave the park at about 17:00pm and return to the lodge by 18:30pm. If you are staying at the lodge get freshoned up for some dinner or just sit by the campfire and just have a coffee.

Park fees, transport in open roofed 4×4, professional English speaking driver guide, guide allowances, excursions as per itinerary, full day game drive – 2 Lt of water per person per day during safari.

PLEASE NOTE: If payment is recieved for the trip less than 72h before the trip is planned please note that we will request that you pay for the gate entrance directly at the park with your own visa card. This cost is included in the $300. This is due to legislation where only prepayment for entry or payment by VISA card is now accepted at all tanzanian national parks. It takes us about 72h to arrange pre-payment at the local park offices.
